ATALM Conferences fulfill the educational and networking needs of Indigenous peoples from throughout the world. Known for delivering practical and culturally relevant training, the conferences provide a unique opportunity to share knowledge and build networks.

  1. Complete a separate form for each proposed session. If you are submitting a double session, separate forms must be submitted for each session.

PRESENTER RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Conference presenters carry significant responsibilities. All presenters are expected to:

  1. Register for the conference at the time their session is accepted. Presenters may register at the early bird member rate of $350. Sessions will not be published until all presenters register.  
  2. Presenter support is available for qualifying presenters. Request for Presenter Support applications are available HERE. Priority is given to Native presenters and presenters presenting more than one session. 
  3. Create well-prepared, high-quality presentations ensuring the content is clear, concise, and engaging.
  4. Design sessions that encourage audience engagement through discussions, Q&A sessions, activities, or workshops that allow participants to actively participate and learn.
  5. Attend the full conference and contribute to a meaningful exchange of ideas and knowledge.

PRESENTER KEY DATES:

  • February 15, 2024  - Deadline for submitting session proposals
  • February - March 2024 - Session proposals reviewed
  • April 1, 2024  - Acceptance/decline notifications distributed
  • May 1, 2024  - Deadline for presenters to accept or decline offer to present, register, and pay for the conference.
  • June 3, 2024  - Preliminary Program released
  • October 1, 2024 - Final Program Book released
  • November 12 - 14, 2024 ATALM Conference, Palm Springs, California

Funding for conference registration and lodging is available for eligible applicants. It is anticipated a minimum of 100 scholarships will be awarded. The deadline for submitting Scholarship Applications is Monday, May 20, 2024. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Scholarship funds are made available through a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and contributions from other generous donors.

Established in 2007, the Guardian Awards honor and recognize Native organizations and individuals who contribute to the vitality and cultural sovereignty of Native Nations. Guardian Awardees are recognized during the annual International Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries, and Museums. 

The 2024 Conference of Indigenous Archives, Libraries, and Museums will be held at the Palm Springs Conference Center in Palm Springs, California, November 12-14, 2024.

You may nominate as many individuals, organizations, or projects as you wish. Please use a separate form for each nomination. The deadline to submit nominations is June 17, 2024

The Going Home Fund facilitates the return or long-term loan of culturally significant materials to USA-based tribal cultural entities. This funding request form is for use by Native communities seeking the return or loan of items. Eligible expenses include insurance, packaging, shipping, and other costs associated with the return. 

You may request funding for the return of multiple items from the same institution. However, if you are seeking the return of items from multiple institutions, a new form must be submitted for each institution.

The Going Home Fund Advisory Council meets on or around the 15th day of each month to make awards. You will be notified by email as to the status of your request.

  • Conference Registration only
  • Conference Registration and three nights lodging

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Applications will be reviewed by the National Program Review Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Expected impact of the presentation(s)
  • Number of presentations
  • Tribal affiliation of presenter
  • Need for financial support
